Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany has announced the cancellation of all public Masses until further notice over coronavirus fears.
The move comes after a series of steps the diocese had taken in recent weeks to lessen the risk from the virus and as schools and other organizations have issued their own cancellations to protect the public from COVID-19.
The announcement applies to all regularly-scheduled public Masses in the diocese, except weddings and funerals. Funerals and weddings may be attended only by close family in accordance with social distancing and capacity requirements. Further restrictions may force additional changes.
The diocese also cancelled all Confirmations until further notice. They will be rescheduled at a future date. Despite the cancellations, churches will remain open for private prayer, pending further regulations. Please share this important information with those who may not have
